The Queen's Lair

Perched on the high slopes of the mountains that cut the continent of Ilshenar, the Covo della Regina is a relatively small cave system. Its entrance is marked by a series of monoliths dating back to times now forgotten and placed in that position by peoples now lost in the mists of time to win the favor, or appease the anger of the one who lived (and is said to still occupy ) the dreaded abyss.

Several expeditions led first by Shantar's noble charmers Gargoyle and later by the Royal Academy of Britain have repeatedly attempted to explore the cave system in search of the ancient treasures it could hide. Unfortunately, despite the great efforts of these valiant adventurers, the arachnid-shaped aberrations that inhabit the cave have always managed to repel the forces of Shantar and Britannia. As if that were not enough, bands of orcs and many other dark creatures protect the monstrosities that are hidden in the abyss, presumably attracted by the fearsome power of the queen.
